"A Moment of Determination" expressionist composition in acrylic (2018)

The Graduate of the Muthesius art academy lives the complexity in her paintings. A gauzy multi-layered composition of forms, colours & materials, which mutually condition and inspire each other, create a tension between the elements, which at the same time appears delicate and powerful, determine her paintings. Seams mark interfaces, old connections are loosened, new connections emerge. Experimenting with forms, colours and materials determines the artist's work. Kasten-Jerke redefines painting.

She does not chase after trends, rather she processes everyday life, everyday events in her paintings. Her works are generally concentrated on a colourful, almost delicate choice of colourswhich is certainly also combined with strong colour tones, as well as on lines and forms, which again and again set accents. In her most recent representations something new can be observed: The artist succeeds in creating the illusion of spatiality, which is essentially due to her wafer-thin multi-layered pictorial composition. This way of working gives the viewer a noticeable lightness in the pictures.
