Fine Art Prints

Art under pressure - how is the art print business going?

With an original, things are quite simple - one look at the picture, a little expertise, knowledge of the creator, and you have a picture hanging in your own four walls that is not just decoration, but underlines your character.

How did the idea come about - with the art print?

One picture, one customer - and that was it. Time and again we have been approached by our customers because their favourite works were out of stock, because there was not enough hanging space. "Could the artist perhaps make something very similar again?" was one of the most frequently asked questions on the phone. Whenever we were presented with this idea, the answer was mundane and at the same time very understandable - this mood for a design only exists once, the brush only finds its stroke with the unique piece, colours cannot be mixed as often as desired. In short: something always fell by the wayside, even if artists sometimes work in phases and series.

Then came the evening with cheese and wine....

It almost sounds cliché, but we had settled on originals in the gallery. Until that evening in early summer. Slowly everyone came out of lockdown again and our photographer shot some pictures in the gallery on a whim. Some of the shots were really successful and quickly ended up in the printer. One of these photos then hung above the desk, some photos we had hung up at home, and we were so happy about it that we started to distribute our snapshots to all our colleagues. And suddenly, among the photos, there was also a picture on display - unedited, brilliant in perspective and brand new. This first impression became our art print- just for us, our number 1. And the next steps became a science.

One becomes two and three

We spent a long time on our first art print. Friends compared the print with the original in different lighting conditions. We approached artists about it and told our first regular customers about our art print. The reactions were positive, euphoric and surprising. For we were very cautious with our idea and did not want to be pushed into arbitrariness. That was one thing. But it was much more important to us that our art prints withstand all critical looks. So we began to perfect our work on the picture.

Now it becomes professional

We set up a small photo studio in our gallery. We painted one wall white. We got special lamps, darkened the windows and took photos from all angles. We actually got into a frenzy. We wanted to capture a mood. We didn't want to smooth out the brushstrokes. We wanted to give the unique a second chance. That was our ambition.
The results looked quite good on the computer - but that wasn't the goal. What we wanted was an art print. So we printed. With ourselves, with our friends, and then with professionals. In fact, we managed to find a perfect symbiosis. We photograph. And then have it printed. This is how we come closest to the original with our art print - and give many pictures a second chance.

Everything has its price

It is clear that we do not want to sell the originals below their value. But to brighten up your workplace a little or to find a gift for friends or colleagues, it doesn't always have to be an original. An art print costs at most a fraction of the original. And when it comes to deciding what to buy, that's a clear advantage. We even have some customers who first treated themselves to our art print and then cautiously asked a few weeks later whether the original was still available. With a bit of luck, the art print was then moved to another room, and the original now hangs in its place, because the initial scepticism had vanished after a few weeks. Nevertheless, we have to make it quite clear: we do not sell our art prints. With every single piece, you acquire a part of the original, an idea of the artist and our special know-how.

What number of pieces?

We always determine the number of our art prints in advance. We want to give the original a second chance and not degrade it to arbitrariness. That's why you get a certificate with every art print that it was created in our house, and you also support our artists with your purchase, who receive a financial share of every art print. However, it may happen that we are no longer able to deliver some art prints. This may be because the original has left our house or because the agreed number of pieces has already been reached.

What does the artist say?

To be quite honest, we were a little hesitant until we told our artists about our idea that we had found a way to offer art prints. But our concerns were quickly dispelled. No one thought about their art now being sold off. Every art print is therefore agreed upon with the creator of the work. What's more, the art prints are usually also signed. In this way, we, the artists and our customers do not take any risks. Because art is always a matter of trust. We are always aware of this and it is also the maxim of our gallery.

What do our customers think about it?

Many of our customers are very critical. Over the years, we have thus been able to build up an ideal relationship of trust and get in touch with many of them again and again. The best example of this is our newsletter. This not only informs you about our current offers, but it is also a small offer to you. Just send us your experiences with our art, ask questions and inform us as well. In this way we have already received quite a number of reactions, which confirm us again and again in our first opinion and the fixed idea - art prints are popular, in demand and something very special. The decision to buy an art print does not even depend on your wallet, but it is a conscious decision not to impose the original, but to give a work the space it needs to unfold its full beauty. This does not always have to be within one's own four walls.

Which art prints do we circulate?

In principle, almost all of our pictures are suitable for an art print. However, we always choose the objects individually. It's impossible to say with any certainty exactly what we choose. It's a kind of gut feeling what we'll produce next. But inspire us, tell us what you would like to see as an art print, and we will gladly realise your wishes - in colour and with a trained eye for detail.

Can the print withstand critical glances?

Even if we sometimes get in our own way with our own standards, no art print leaves the house unchecked. This means that we inspect all the framed pictures - not just one, but at least six people. This is our quality standard, and we will not change it. Over many years, it has been proven that we do not produce art that does not stand up to critical scrutiny. This applies to our sculptures, paintings and art prints. In the meantime, we have developed a clientele all over the world and will not disappoint any of our customers - regardless of whether you purchase an art print from us or, as an art collector, inquire with us in the gallery again and again.

Packed and shipped - like an original

Every single art print is sent on its journey by us personally. We bring the sheets into shape with great sensitivity, check all edges and transitions. We test whether the colours match the original and also hang everything on trial. Then the art prints are professionally framed and prepared for shipping so that you receive a picture that can grow on you and with which you can express yourself in your own way.
