The watercolour artist Almut Basta
Almut Basta's painting technique is exclusively watercolour. The artist does not allow herself to be tied down to a specific choice of motif - she loves variety and is keen to experiment. Thus, in addition to watercolours of various motifs, she also creates collages and mixed techniques. Her paintings are playful and characterised by intense colours. Working with watercolours creates organic structures that Almut particularly likes and incorporates into her paintings. Transparent glazes make her works appear light and loose and both abstract and figurative elements are integrated in the picture motifs. Attentive & imaginative.
Almut grew up in rural Pomerania and she combines the charm of historical architecture so that the old merges with the modern. Almut learned the basics of the painting trade during her studies in Reichenbach (Vogtland) in the field of textile design. After many years of artistic break, she began to deal intensively with the watercolour painting technique. She expanded her knowledge in courses and workshops and as a self-taught painter with a love of experimentation, she mastered the difficult painting technique with flying colours.
