Anniversary exhibition for 10 years of Abstract Moments

Theme exhibition "10 Years - 2 Ways" - Anniversary in Gallery Abstract Moments

Although Andreas Garbe and Thomas Stephan, as contemporary modern artists, have always pursued their own artistic direction, they repeatedly influence each other. For the artist Thomas Stephan, it is above all the different colour effects in painting that are decisive, as well as an urgent feeling to continually expand the range of his working techniques. Andreas Garbe, on the other hand, focuses on a few variants of handling technique and colour that are essential for him.

Both agree on the basic idea that painting should follow aesthetic schemes; abstract art, which needs enlightenment to be accessible, ultimately exists enough - in their view. Following this consensus, both developed a style in parallel that consciously delineates the boundaries between representational and abstract painting and, despite striking differences in composition and handwriting, has one thing in common: intense motifs that speak directly to the viewer and invite him or her to engage with the work of art.

The two founders came up with something very special for this day. As native Dresdeners, the founders and artists did not miss the opportunity to create an abstract painting based on a given subject of a Dresden old town motif completely independently of each other and behind a closed curtain. Until the opening, both were completely unaware of how the other had worked on it and what the final result looked like. On the evening of the vernissage, both works were ceremoniously unveiled and both, as well as the guests at the opening, were fascinated by the studio work and different approach. A special experience for both gallery owners, which will remain unforgettable.

After several special exhibitions in Dresden and participation in numerous national and international group exhibitions, there is now a direct confrontation of their work, which promises to be an exciting snapshot of their creative repertoire.

The exhibition "10 Years - 2 Ways" lasted for 3 months and was on view at Dresden's Abstrakte Momente gallery until September 2015, for more information on the local gallery and opening hours click here:
