Natalie Fedrau is not an accuser of her time. The exposing of social and political processes remains completely alien to her. Rather, the hip artist deals with particularly multifaceted painting, which seems to tell its own stories. Her colourful artworks allow new content to be discovered every day. "This is what I want my world to look like..." she says confidently and thoughtfully at the same time. Paintings as search pictures, parts of pictures entangled in wild controversies and hopelessly out of order: The artist, who lives near Hüllhorst, pits the elements of her works against the conventions of minimalist painting. Her works, she assures us, have roots in abstraction, but are not abstract: the confrontation is highly concrete. Stripped of details and topographical cues, her paintings oscillate between abstract texture and representational set pieces; they dovetail pure painting with emotionally charged metaphors, such as foaming surf and emotional chaos.
