Officially, René Theurich would be called a sculptor, but anyone who immerses themselves in the 46-year-old's cosmos soon realizes that producing sculptures is only one side of his obsession. At every moment, he seems to be scanning his surroundings for their suitability for art. He walks through forests and makes full use of nature. In doing so, he selects countless objects of the most diverse provenance. The studio has become an absolute place for Theurich. The established wood sculptor, from whom our latest addition comes, lives and works in his studio in See near Niesky, in Lower Silesian Upper Lusatia. Theurich also works as a painter. He impressively achieves what few sculptors do: he combines wood sculpture with the whims of oil painting to create not only two-dimensional but also three-dimensional objects.
