Golden inspiration

Talent, a love of experimentation and a constant desire for new things characterise the artistic career of Yosi Losaij, who was born in Pirna near Dresden in 1982. Very early on, she felt the urge to paint, to conquer paper and canvas for herself. The combination of abstract and representational elements lends her diverse pictorial compositions a special, extraordinary charm.

She often populates her world of images with whimsical signs, in part symbolically immortalising herself in her impressive pictorial inventions. Captivating colours that reflect joie de vivre and energy and the subtle simplicity of the motifs depicted create an interesting and exciting visual experience.

Losaij studied art therapy in Nijmegen in the Netherlands and is now one of the established and renowned contemporary artists. The painter earns her living as an art therapist and psychologist, but she has always regarded painting as her main profession.

Working method

Losaij's painting techniques are diverse. She has mastered acrylic and oil painting as well as various palette knife techniques, the use of artist's ink, but also the original watercolour painting.
The painter creates her pictures often in months of work; the starting point always remains figurative, classical painting. May the subtly applied colour on the canvas appear as powerful, playful and fantasy-laden as it is - an intensive preoccupation with her closely drawn surroundings, both the surrounding society and the equally weighted nature, precedes all her works.

Light and colour always ultimately gain the upper hand in elaborate working processes. Losaij gives all her works a reality-related name - but at the same time she emphasises that she is forced to use spontaneous brushstrokes in order to achieve a picture that is true to reality.

She succeeds in a very enchanting way in working a clear and calm aesthetic into her paintings, always focussing on a universal claim to beauty. This aesthetic concept gives her artistry increasing recognition: at art fairs, with galleries and art collectors.
