The artist Conny Niehoff

niehoff

Conny Niehoff, born in Womirstedt in 1968, has been working as a freelance artist since 2002. She lives and works in her studio in Colbitz near Magdeburg. Since 2013 she has been giving painting courses in the Munich area through the Akademie Wildkogel and organizing weekend workshops in her own studio in Colbitz. The knowledge of transience, visions of the world, the normal everyday life and the sensitivity for what surrounds us, are the themes of the paintings of Conny Niehoff. Themes which she works out layer by layer to motifs on canvas.

If these themes are initially intuitively subordinated to the color, they grow out of the picture again through the application of strong structures, without losing their abstraction. In dialogue with the canvas she catches the unrestrained, balances loose energy into equilibrium. Outside and inside, the foreign and the own are effective forces in her painting. The real and the unreal merge. She allows the viewer to see through and ambiguity, lets him participate in the adventure of something new, unknown. Her paintings are diaries of her thoughts and perceptions, show what she has experienced and seen, and yet leave enough room for everyone to make their own interpretation.
