People or animal, not a contradiction, but one and the same need: to portray. The portrait of the human face, as well as the animal portrait, an exploration of the individual.
The artist Brandys' intention is to go beyond the real world, beyond representationalism, to create an abstract view of her own, which she layers with great force and enormous momentum expressive colour fields. This leads to an unusual visual experience for the viewer.
Her abstract own-world lies above the real object, which is concealed, painted over, alienated, but remains the dominant pictorial theme. It penetrates the world of the portrayed, thus opening up an almost psychoanalytical entrance for the viewer. The portrait literally clings to the colours, absorbs them, colours that stand for history, for personality - only now does the portrait take on a biographical character that can describe an entire life. That is the high art of portraiture, to create an X-ray view with the help of colours, an in-depth view that does not just show the face, but the whole person.
All the artist's works suggest an inner movement, convey the attempt to penetrate the familiar and the familiar with her own view, and yet this is not alien to the viewer, who feels involved, taken along by the artist, at times almost as if swept into this stream of irritating power, shimmering colourfulness and the urge to penetrate and explore the outer appearance.

The gestural, spontaneous and expressive appearance of her painting is ultimately the successful implementation of a plan, an intention. An intention to transform the real into a planned abstract and to give the real world its own alienation, an abstraction, growing out of her personality. Of course, coincidences are not excluded when the thin acrylic runs down the canvas. A little experimentation, is always with her too, but controlled, and only as far as it suits her intention, i.e. the consistent implementation of the plan. All this with impressive composure and a certainty of reaching the goal and not overloading the work and thus destroying the plan itself, which is her constant companion while painting. A tension between discipline and enthusiasm. Her paintings are situated in between. An area characterised by aesthetic demand, graphic framework and mastery of craftsmanship.
