Artist Manuela Pilz - discover artworks
The artist Manuela Pilz was born in Glashütte in 1961 and grew up in a nearby village. It was not until many years later that she consciously began to explore her "slumbering" creativity: Drawing courses, calligraphy courses and an evening semester at the Dresden Art Academy shaped her path and her aspirations. Her aim is to capture the small and special moments of nature on canvas using various materials, including paper she has made herself.
Structural paste forms the basis of her work. It is applied to the canvas and tears open randomly during the drying process. These torn open structures have something vulnerable about them, giving a glimpse into the interior, the soul. The painting process continues with the use of colour pigments. In the end, quiet, silent but also powerful and lively pictures emerge.
